Today, June 29th, is a monumental day. It’s the first day I can finally kick back and embrace this new phase of my life. The past week has been a wild rollercoaster of celebrations and transitions: birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, moving Sindale—basically, a circus of life events crammed into one chaotic bundle. Now, I find myself in this rare moment of calm, finally able to breathe.
But here’s the kicker: I’m torn. I want to do absolutely nothing and everything at the same time. Have you ever been in that space? You know, where you’re like, “I should probably do something productive... or maybe just binge-watch an entire season of The Office again.” It’s a weird paradox of wanting to be a couch potato and a superhero simultaneously.
In these moments, I turn to my spiritual practices. You know, those moments when you light a candle, take a deep breath, and try to remember where you left your sanity. So, what’s the game plan for setting myself up for success in this new chapter? It’s a lot like preparing for a marathon, minus the actual running because well, been there, done that!
Mental Preparation
First up, is mental preparation. This is where I ask myself what do I really want this next phase to be. I have no kids, no responsibilities, and no filter, so I am pretty much dangerous. I need to set some intentions and visualize my life, my way, before someone or something tries to highjack my attention. Ain't nobody got time for that. It's a trap! Time to go on the offense and get my mind right!
Physical Preparation
Next, physical preparation. Athletes stretch and warm up before a race; I need to get ready for my hot girl summer era. I have a gorgeous husband, a world tour planned, and a new wardrobe to prepare for so, I gotta get it right and get it tight! So I think I need to take some time to create a new rhythm in my schedule that includes some new habits around eating, sleeping, and exercise.
Visualization of Success
Lastly, visualization of success. This is a powerful tool used by athletes, entrepreneurs, and anyone who’s ever tried to put together IKEA furniture without losing their $#IT. By picturing what success looks like, I create a mental roadmap that guides my actions. I teach it to others all the time, now, it's my turn to create an action plan for my own next phase again.
Today, I’m at the start of something new, and it’s both exciting and terrifying. I’m so glad to have you along for the ride, sharing in the highs, lows, and everything in between. Together, we’ll navigate this path, laughing at our missteps and celebrating our victories.
As I take this time to reflect, prepare, and visualize, I invite you to do the same. Embrace the stillness, listen to your inner voice (preferably not the one telling you to eat that second donut), and get ready for the adventures ahead. Here’s to new beginnings and the incredible, sometimes ridiculous, journey that awaits us!
